Minutes:

The Assistant Chief Executive (Policy, Performance and Economic Development) submitted a report which sought members approval on changes to Chief Officer arrangements within the organisation.

 

As a result of Local Government Reorganisation, the existing Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service Andrew Seekings had been successfully appointed as the new Chief Executive for the Cumberland Council.

 

It had been agreed by the Shadow Cumberland Authority that Andrew Seekings would be ‘designated’ Chief Executive for Cumberland Council with effect from 1 October 2022, and would be Chief Executive for Cumberland Council with effect from 1 January 2023. His role as Interim Head of Paid Service for Cumberland Shadow Authority remained unaffected.

 

To ensure continuity and maintain high standards of service at Allerdale BC and to avoid duplication of work, members were asked to approve interim arrangements at the Senior Chief Officer level of the organisation and associated financial implications.

 

 

Councillor M Fitzgerald moved the recommendations within the report; this was seconded by Councillor B Cannon.

The motion was carried unanimously.

 

Recommended

 

That Council be requested to agree that –

 

1.  Andrew Seekings remains as Chief Executive for Allerdale Borough Council until 31 December 2022, however, he would be de-designated Head of Paid Service from 1st October 2022;

 

2.  Paul Wood (existing Chief Officer for Transformation) be appointed as Interim Head of Paid Service for Allerdale Borough Council from 1st October 2022 until 31st December 2022 with an additional uplift in substantive salary (further details contained within section 6.2 of the report) and to be appointed as Interim Head of Paid Service and Interim Chief Executive Officer from 1st January 2023, paid at the full salary as set out in the Councils Pay Policy.
