The minutes of the meeting held on 16 March 2018 were agreed as a correct record.

Minutes:

The Harbourmaster provided the Board with an update on issues surrounding Harrington harbour.

 

The navigational markers at the harbour had been painted.

 

In terms of the safety works to be carried out at the pier, new warning signs had been ordered and the repair works on the safety rails were being carried out.

 

With respect to the weeds and long grass at the harbour, the Board asked the Democratic and Support Services Officer to contact the council’s Head of Community Services to ask that Harrington harbour be included in the schedule of works in the new grounds maintenance contract that the council was in the process of agreeing.

 

Regarding flowers being planted in the boats around the harbour, Councillor B Cannon agreed to speak to the Chair of the Workington in Bloom group about doing something about this.

 

The Harbourmaster reported that since writing the report, lifebelts and signs at the harbour had been damaged. The council’s Building Surveyor had ordered new ones and the Police had been informed.

 

The Board asked for a news release to be put out regarding safety at Harrington harbour during the summer months. The Democratic and Support Services Officer agreed to speak to the council’s Communications team about this.

 

The Board noted the report.

  1. The Democratic and Support Services Officer contact the Head of Community Services to ask that Harrington harbour be included in the schedule of works in the council’s new grounds maintenance contract.

 

  1. Councillor B Cannon request the Chair of Workington in Bloom to look into planting flowers in the boats at Harrington harbour.

 

  1. The Democratic and Support Services Officer speak to the council’s Communications team regarding a news release about safety at Harrington harbour during the summer months.

Minutes:

The council’s Building Surveyor provided the Board with an update on the budget for Harrington harbour.

 

Since the preparation of the report, there had been further expenditure on repairs to railings, new signage and preparing for dredging and pontoon works.

 

In terms of income, several mooring holders had not paid their fees. The Building Surveyor informed the Board that letters were being sent out to the mooring holders, requesting that their fees be paid.

 

The Board noted the update.
