The minutes of the meeting held on Friday 20 June 2014 were signed as a correct record subject to Councillor B Bacon being added to the attendance as present.

Plans for the future

Verbal discussion.

Minutes:

The HH&DB discussed and noted their responsibilities for maintaining the harbour.

 

They expressed the need to take a pro-active approach even in the current economic climate.

 

Councillor B Cannon asked the Assistant Engineer if he had an update on the Harrington Harbour Village Green Application. The Assistant Engineer confirmed that he did not but would liaise with the Legal Services Department for an update.

 

Discussions took place in regards to what the authority could do to make a start on improving the harbour. The Assistant Engineer was asked to provide the board with costings for particular improvements.

 

A brief statement was read out from Councillor North updating the board on how his meeting with the Sailing & Fishing Club had went.  Members were please that the club had expressed interested in taking up the vacant Community Commissioner’s post to represent the community and HH&DB and felt it would be a good link to the Sailing & Fishing club.

 

The board requested that The Assistant Engineer look into Halcrow doing an update report and business plan for the harbour.

 

Agreed: That;

 

a)  The Assistant Engineer speak to the legal department in regard to the village green application and update members at the next HH&DB meeting.

 

b)  The Assistant Engineer provide costings for particular improvements to the harbour and report back at the next HH&DB meeting.

 

c)  The Assistant Engineer look into Halcrow doing an update report and business plan for the harbour.

Minutes:

Members considered the content of the Harbour Masters report which gave details of the recent progress and highlighted some of the current developments.

 

Members discussed their on-going concerns in regard to the trouble with youths jumping into the harbour mouth and off South Pier ignoring safety signs and barriers.

 

The Corporate Health and Safety Advisor suggested a site visit to the harbour to look at the best way forward in dealing with the problem.

 

 Agreed: That;

 

a)  The Harbour Masters report be noted.

 

b)  The Corporate Health and Safety Advisor arrange a site visit to look at and agree a way forward.

Community member vacancy

Verbal update.

Minutes:

Members were pleased to hear that further to Councillor North’s meeting with the Sailing and Fishing Club they expressed interest in applying for the current vacant Community Commissioner position on the HH&DB.

 

Agreed: That a formal letter and application form be sent out to the Sailing and Fishing club for the person interested to complete and return.
